Art Bubble has launched a TV-channel, featuring interviews from the Art Bubble festival and around the world. At present, you can find interviews on the Danish part of the site, and we are working towards getting it all ready for the English part as well. Our first priority has been editing the videos.

The 2016 Hanne Hansen Award was presented to a packed ballroom at Best Westerne Hotel Jørgensen in Horsens, on September 10th.
This year’s recipients were chosen not for their published work, but rather for their tireless efforts behind the scenes. One presenterer compared what they do, not to the water bearer, which every star cyclist requires, but rather to the mechanic, who makes sure that the gears are oiled.
That is what this year’s recipients do. They work behind the scenes, getti
ng comics out to the people, either by creating an environment in which aspiring comics creators can learn the craft and later hone it; or the publisher, who for 25 years has published comics by Danish and foreign creators alike; or the shop owner, who after 10 years of loyal service to her store became the owner and continues the proud tradition, that saw her store celebrate 45 years of continuous business in 2016.
One last honorary award, was bestowed upon a creator, whose work has inspired many a Danish cartoonist and made millions of readers laugh on a daily and weekly basis.
Art Bubble is proud to announce the recipients of the 2016 Hanne Hansen Awards
Morten Thorning – center leader of The Animation Workshop of Viborg
Paw Mathiasen – owner of Forlaget Fahrenheit
Marit Nim – owner of Fantask – the longest serving comic book store in the universe
And finally – Mort Walker, creator of Beatle Baley and Hi & Luis.
Thank you all for your hard work and dedication!

Talk on Chinese Comics
Nicolas Grivel on Chinese Comics: From Lianhuanhua to the New Talents of the Chinese Comics Scene, or the Tribulations of a Frenchman in China
The Chinese comics scene is still not very well-known around the world. This lecture aims to describe the landscape of the comics publishing industry in China, from its roots in lianhuanhua (palm-sized serial picture-books) by such artists as He Youzhi to a new generation of cartoonists such as Zou Jian, Nie Jun and Golo Zhao who are influenced by manga, as well as European and North American comics. What will their future be outside of China?
A seeming commercial Eldorado, Grivel will examine the potential and limits of the market within Mainland China for foreign publishers and cartoonists. The lecture will also focus on Chinese universities with art departments, the deep link between comics and the animation industry, state censorship, the rules of the Chinese market and also the amazing energy of the new comics scene in China.
Born and raised in North Eastern France, Nicolas Grivel is a literary agent (Nicolas Grivel Agency). He began his publishing career in 2003 as a senior editor for Pika (publisher of manga – Hachette France). He now owns an agency specialized in the sale of rights (paper, digital and media) of bande dessinée, comics, graphic novels in creation and in translation around the world. He has sold in English graphic novels as Ariol by Emmanuel Guibet and Marc Boutavant, Today is the last day of the rest of you life by Ulli Lust, Sam Zabel & The Magic Pen by Dylan Horrocks, The Realist by Asaf Hanuka, Jim Curious by Matthias Picard, Ghetto Brother by Julian Voloj & Claudia Ahelering, Climate Changed by Philippe Squarzoni, A Game for Swallows by Zeina Abirached, An Iranian Metamorphosis by Mana Neyestani, First Man by Simon Schwartz, Peplum by Blutch, Incidents in the night by David B, etc.
The goal of Nicolas Grivel Agency is to represent and to push demanding works which make the readers think. Nicolas is casting a wide net for all kinds of graphic stories. He’s also scouting comics and artists for the American studio Laika as well and he’s teaching classes in two French Universities and doing lectures in various universities or events as Beijing Film Academy, Hanghzou Festival, Ligatura (Poznan), Budapest BookFair, Warsaw BookFair, etc.
He lives in Paris and likes to travel.

Forlaget Forlæns brings Marcel Ruijters to the guest list
In conjunction with the release of the Danish translation of Marcel Ruijters biography on Hieronymus Bosch, his Danish publisher at Forlaget Forlæns has invited the Dutch creator to Copenhagen for the Art-Bubble Festival at The Round Tower.
Marcel Ruijters is a veteran of self-publishing since the late 1980s and has been working internationally with many publishers, including Le Dernier Cri, L’An 2, Oog & Blik, Knockabout and Forlaget Forlaens. Over the latest decade, his work has been inspired by medieval art. His adaptation of Dante’s Inferno was awarded as the best Dutch graphic novel of 2008. His biography of Hieronymus Bosch is his latest, and most ambitious project thusfar.
